George Mitchell School, a proud member of the ‘London 2012 Get Set network’ sent its students to visit the test events at the newly finished Handball Arena at the Olympic Park, Stratford.

With only months to go before the start of the Games, the London 2012 Organising Committee has staged a series of test events called 'London Prepares'.

Students from George Mitchell, an ‘all-through’ 3 - 16 school, got to watch the ‘London Handball Cup’ where six women’s national teams from around the world competed, including our own England team.

“Our students were really impressed at the speed of the game and the agility of the players,” said accompanying PE teacher Henry Calitz.

George Mitchell recently celebrated a very successful Ofsted inspection which quoted “Pupils make good progress as a result of the school’s good and, in some respects, outstanding provision.”

Deputy head, Claire kirwin said, “We have always looked at the education of the whole child which includes extra-curricular events. We are thrilled to provide our students with this unique and exciting opportunity.”
