Harvest Festival 2011

SAMBA, SCHOOL AND SPAGHETTI!

George Mitchell School Primary Phase pupils enjoyed a Harvest Festival assembly, donating tins, packets and boxes of food for charity.

Rupert Jeffery, deputy head teacher at the all-through school, led the assembly in Samba choruses of thanks for the crops that grow in the fields to ‘yummy spaghetti’!

Then the children enjoyed a story of ‘the legend of the green ghost’, an American fable of how corn was discovered.

The donated food on display covered three tables across the hall, with more bags of food still arriving. It will be distributed to a centre for the homeless based in Walthamstow.
