Emma Trevayne - Patron of Reading

Emma Trevayne

We are delighted to announce that George Mitchell School has appointed Emma Trevayne as our new Patron of Reading.

Emma has been a full-time author of books for children and teenagers since 2012. If it's magical, whimsical, creepy, or downright scary, she loves writing about it, probably inspired by her childhood love of epic, classic fantasy like The Chronicles of Narnia and The Lord of the Rings. She believes very strongly that what we read when we're young shapes us as we grow up, and also that none of us should ever grow up completely. When not writing, she's walking her enormous dog around the parks of north London or dyeing her hair a different colour every week.

She's incredibly excited to be coming on board as Patron of Reading for the school and looking forward to doing everything she can to inspire both reading and writing in the students.

In a letter to students, she said:

If you’d like to get in touch with me for a personal book recommendation or to tell me about a book you love, you can email me anytime at emma.trevayne@georgemitchellschool.co.uk. Talking about books is my favourite thing to do—I could do it all day. If you’d like to come and meet me in person, I’m going to be in your school library between 11am and 2pm on Tuesday, June 19th. Drop by and look for the lady with the blue hair. That’s me! Please come say hello.
I’m really looking forward to getting to know all of you and celebrating reading with you.

We welcome Emma to George Mitchell and look forward to working with her
