Walthamstow Wetlands Trip

On Wednesday the 21st February, our budding ecologists in year 9 visited the largest urban wetlands in Europe, just around the corner from us in Walthamstow.

Rich in biodiversity, students were able to use sample techniques to see for themselves the impact of human activities such as industrialisation, introduction on non-native species and conservation on the types and populations of species present in the wetlands. Students also supported conservation efforts by creating bat boxes which are hoped will support the growth in numbers of resident microbats.
